♦A: 嗨,凯特。
Hāi, kǎitè. Nǐ shénme shíhou huílái de?
Hi, Kate. When did you get back?
Huílái yǒu yīgè xiǎoshíliǎo. Zěnme yàng? Wǒ bùzài de shíhou yǒu méiyǒu rén dǎ diànhuà zhǎo wǒ?
About an hour ago. What’s new? Did anyone call for me while I was out?
Yǒu yīgè jiào sòng kuí de xiàwǔ dǎ diànhuà guòlái. Tā yào nǐ gěi tā huí diànhuà. Tā zhù zài jiàrì jiǔdiàn. Nǐ kěyǐ dǎ nàlǐ de diànhuà liánxì dào tā.
Yeah, someone named Song Kui called this afternoon. He left word for you to call him.
He’s at the Holiday Inn Hotel. You can get in touch with him there.
Ó, nà shì wǒ de dàxué tóngchuāng hǎo you. Wǒ zhīdào tā yào guòlái. Bùguò méi xiǎngdào shì jīntiān. Wǒ yīdìng shì bǎ rìzi gǎo hùnle. Zhēnshi gè tiān dà de jīngxǐ!
Oh,that’s my old friend from college. I knew he was coming to town. I didn’t expect him today, though. I must have got mixed up on the dates. What a great surprise!
Wǒmen yào bùyào qǐng tā lái cānjiā jīn wǎn de jùhuì?
Should we ask him to our party tonight?
Wǒ shì zhème xiǎng. Dànshì wǒmen yǐjīng yāoqǐngle èr shí gèrén, fángzi yòu hěn xiǎo
I’d like to. But we’ve already invited twenty people. And the apartment is pretty small.
♦A: 别担心。
Bié dānxīn. Duō yīgè háishì bùchéng wèntí de. Rén yuè duō yuè kāixīn ma.
Don’t worry. We can always make room for one more. The more the merrier you know.
Méi cuò. Qítā kèrénmen yě huì xǐhuan sòng kuí de. Tā hěn yǒushàn, érqiě zǒng shì dòu dàjiā xiào.
That’s true. And the other guests will like Song Kui. He’s very friendly, and he always has funny stories and jokes to tell.
Gàosu tā bùyào chuān de tài lóngzhòng. Nǐ zhīdào zhè shìgè fēi zhèngshì de jùhuì.
Be sure to tell him not to dress up. It’s a casual party, you know.
Hǎo de. Wǒ kāichē qù jiē tā. Tā bù shúxī zhège chéngshì, yīgè rén lái kěnéng huì mílù de.
|Okay. I’ll go pick Song up. He doesn’t know this city. He might lose his way coming alone.
Hǎo ba, wǒ liú zài zhèlǐ zhǔnbèi jùhuì de shì.
Okay, I’ll stay here and finish getting things ready for the party.
Zhèyàng bùcuò. Yī huǐ jiàn.
Sounds great. I’ll see you later then.
♦A: 好,再见!
Hǎo, zàijiàn!
