Learn Cantonese Grammar - Basic Level - The use of dáng

Today’s Cantonese lesson I will teach you how to use dáng in Cantonese language, dáng mean wait in Chinese and also Cantonese, but it also means let, here and some examples.

dáng (somebody)…+ Action : To let somebody to do something/ to wait for somebody等我 + Action

Examples:

  1. dáng ngóh tái háh yáuh móuh yàhn wán néih sīn 等我睇下有冇人搵你先
  2. néih dáng kéuih heui hohk haauh jip go jái fāan làih sīn góng lā.你等佢去學校接個仔返黎先講啦。
  3. dáng màh mā fāan dou ūk kéi ngóh deih joi hōi chí sihk faahn lā.等媽媽返到屋企我地再開始食飯啦。
  4. ngóh séung dáng kéuih mìhng baahk ngóh dōu hóu jūng yi kéuih.我想等佢明白我都好鍾意佢。
