Wǒmen hěn gāoxìng nǐ néng lái. Xiǎng bùxiǎng cānguān yīxià wǒmen de fángzi?
We’re glad that you’re here. Would you like a tour of the house?
♦A:太好了。我能不能喝杯茶?
Tài hǎo le. Wǒ néng bùnéng hē bēi chá?
That’d be great, but could I have a cup of tea first?
♦B:当然可以,我去把水壶的开关打开。你先在沙发上坐一会儿,我到厨房准备准备。
Dāngrán kěyǐ, wǒ qù bǎ shuǐ hú de kāiguān dǎkāi. Nǐ xiān zài shāfā shàng zuò yīhuǐer, wǒ dào chúfáng zhǔnbèi zhǔnbèi.
Sure, I’ll just go put the kettle on, Why don’t you have a seat on the sofa and I’ll go take care of things in the kitchen.
♦A:那好,谢谢。
Nà hǎo, xièxiè.
That would be lovely, thanks.
♦B:茶里放奶还是糖?
Chá lǐ fàng nǎi háishì táng?
Do you take milk or sugar with your tea?
♦A:请给我加一点牛奶,但是不放糖。茶包多沏一会儿再拿出来。
Qǐng gěi wǒ jiā yīdiǎn niúnǎi, dànshì bù fàng táng. Chá bāo duō qī yīhuǐer zài ná chūlái.
I’ll take a little milk, but no sugar,please. Make sure you let the tea steep a few minutes before you take the tea bag out of the cup.
♦B:好的。你觉得我们的客厅怎么样?
Hǎo de. Nǐ juéde wǒmen de kètīng zěnme yàng?
OK. What do you think about our living room?
♦A:嗯,我很喜欢壁炉和咖啡桌。你们打扫过这里吗?这儿看起来点脏。
Ń, wǒ hěn xǐhuan bìlú hé kāfēi zhuō. Nǐmen dǎsǎo guò zhèlǐ ma? Zhèer kàn qǐlái diǎn zàng.
Well, I do like the mantelpiece and the coffee table. Do you ever dust in here? It seems a bit dusty in here.
♦B:一般是你女儿擦掉尘土,我来用吸尘器吸尘。
Yībān shì nǐ nǚér cā diào chéntǔ, wǒ lái yòng xīchénqì xī chén.
Your daughter usually does the dusting, and I do the vacuuming.
♦A:我知道了。我在这儿的时候可以帮你们做点杂务。让我帮忙干什么,你们尽管跟我说。
Wǒ zhīdào le. Wǒ zài zhèer de shíhou kěyǐ bāng nǐmen zuò diǎn záwù. Ràng wǒ bāngmáng gànshénme, nǐmen jǐnguǎn gēn wǒ shuō.
I see. Well, I can help with the chores while I’m here. You two could probably use my help.
♦B:你能来帮忙实在是太好了。这是您的茶,小心还有点烫。
Nǐ néng lái bāngmáng shízài shì tài hǎo le. Zhè shì nín de chá, xiǎoxīn hái yǒudiǎn tàng.
That’s very nice of you to offer. Here’s your tea. Be careful, it’s still quite hot.
