專心致志

 

戰國時期,齊宣王曾聘孟子為客卿,而孟子不願輔佐齊王,推辭而去,別人認為是孟子嫌齊王不聰明而不願意輔佐他,孟子便給大家講了這樣一個小故事:

弈秋是全國最會下棋的人,有兩個人慕名來請弈秋教他們下棋。其中一個人認真學棋、練棋;而另一個人呢,上課時雖然好像也在聽講,可是他腦子裡總想著天上會有大雁要飛過來,想著怎樣拿弓箭去射它,想著烤肉的味道會有多麼鮮美。因為他總是胡思亂想心不在焉,老師的講解一點也沒聽進去。

這樣一起學了很長時間,雖然他們兩人拜同一個老師,每天一起學習,可學的效果卻大不一樣,一個成了棋壇高手,一個卻沒學到什麼本事。

孟子接著問:“你們認為這是他的聰明才智不如前一個人嗎?——不是這樣的,只是因為他不夠專心致志罷了。齊王也是這樣啊,他不能認真地、專心地聽從我的意見,我的思想對他不起作用,所以我才不願輔佐他,辭別他離開齊國的呀。”

成語“專心致志”由此而來,形容做事情的時候一心一意,聚精會神。

Yīnwèi tā zǒng shì húsīluànxiǎng xīnbùzàiyān, lǎoshī de jiǎng jiè yīdiǎn yě méi tīng jìnqù. Zhèyàng yīqǐ xuéle hěn cháng shíjiān, suīrán tāmen liǎng rén bài tóng yīgè lǎoshī, měitiān yīqǐ xuéxí, kě xué de xiàoguǒ què dà bù yīyàng, yīgè chéngle qí tán gāoshǒu, yīgè què méi xué dào shénme běnshì. Mèngzǐ jiēzhe wèn:“Nǐmen rènwéi zhè shì tā de cōngmíng cáizhì bùrú qián yīgèrén ma?——Bùshì zhèyàng de, zhǐshì yīnwèi tā bùgòu zhuānxīnzhìzhì bàle. Qí wáng yěshì zhèyàng a, tā bùnéng rènzhēn dì, zhuānxīn dì tīngcóng wǒ de yìjiàn, wǒ De sīxiǎng duì tā bù qǐ zuòyòng, suǒyǐ wǒ cái bù yuàn fǔzuǒ tā, cíbié tā líkāi qí guó de ya.” Chéngyǔ “zhuānxīnzhìzhì” yóu cǐ ér lái, xíngróng zuò shìqíng de shíhou yīxīnyīyì, jùjīnghuìshén.

“Xiàrìnán tíng huái xīn dà”

Héfēng sòng xiāngqì, zhú lù dī qīng xiǎng.

  【評析】:

此詩寫夏夜水亭納涼清爽閒適和對友人的懷念。

詩的開頭寫夕陽西下與素月東昇,為納涼設景。三、四句寫沐後納涼,表現閒情適意。五、六句由嗅覺繼續寫納涼的真實感受。七、八句寫由境界清幽想到彈琴,想到“知音”、從納涼過渡到懷人。最後寫希望友人能在身邊共度良宵而生夢。

全詩感情細膩,語言流暢,層次分明,富於韻味。 “荷風送香氣,竹露滴清響”句,納涼消暑之佳句。

[Píngxī]: Cǐ shī xiě xià yè shuǐ tíng nàliáng qīngshuǎng xiánshì hé duì yǒurén de huáiniàn. Shī de kāitóu xiě xīyáng xi xià yǔ sù yuè dōngshēng, wèi nàliáng shè jǐng. Sān, sì jù xiě mù hòu nàliáng, biǎoxiàn xián qíng shìyì. Wǔ, liù jù yóu xiùjué jìxù xiě nàliáng de zhēnshí gǎnshòu. The suspicious-looking man drove up to the border, where he was greeted by a sentry. When the guard looked in the trunk, he was surprised to find six sacks bulging at the seams.

 “What’s in here?” he asked.

 “Dirt,” the driver replied.

 “Take them out,” the guard instructed. “I want to check them.”

 Obliging, the man removed the bags, and sure enough, each one of them contained nothing but dirt. Reluctantly, the guard let him go.

 A week later the man came back, and once again, the sentry looked in the truck.

 “What’s in the bags this time?” he asked.

 “Dirt, more dirt.” said the man.

 Not believing him, the guard checked the sacks and, once again, he found nothing but soil.

 The same thing happened every week for six months, and it finally became so frustrating to the guard that he quit and became a bartender. Then one night, the suspicious-looking fellow happened to stop by for a drink. Hurrying over to him, the former guard said, “Listen, pal, drinks are on the house tonight if you’ll do me a favor: Just tell me what the hell you were smuggling all that time.”

 Grinning broadly, the man leaned close to the bartender’s ear and whispered, “Cars.”

   一個形跡可疑的人開車來到邊境,哨兵迎了上去。哨兵在檢查汽車行李箱時,驚奇地發現了六個接縫處鼓得緊繃繃的大口袋。

 “裡面裝的是什麼?”他問道。

 “土。”司機回答。

 “把袋子拿出來”,哨兵命令道:“我要檢查。”

   那人順從地把口袋搬了出來。確實,口袋裡除了土以外,別無他特。哨兵很不情願地讓他通過了。
一周後,那人又來了,哨兵再次檢查汽車上的行李箱。

 “這次袋子裡裝的是什麼?”他問道。

 “土,又運了一些土。”那人回答。

 哨兵不相信,對那些袋子又進行了檢查,結果發現,除了土以外,仍舊一無所獲。

 同樣的事情每週重演一次,一共持續了六個月。最後,哨兵被弄得灰心喪氣,乾脆辭職去當了酒吧侍者。有天夜裡,那個形跡可疑的人碰巧途經酒吧,下車喝酒。那位從前的哨兵急忙迎上前去對他說,“我說,老兄,你要是能幫我一個忙,今晚的酒就歸我請客。你能不能告訴我,那段時間你到底在走私什麼東西?”

 那人俯身過來,湊近侍者的耳朵,裂開嘴笑嘻嘻地說:“汽車。”

倒行逆施

春秋時期,楚國有個人名叫伍奢,他有兩個兒子,大兒子叫伍尚,小兒子叫伍員。伍奢和費無忌都是楚平王太子的老師。費無忌是個奸惡小人,常在楚平王面前說太子的壞話。楚平王聽信讒言,把太子派到邊境做官,讓他遠離自己。後來,費無忌又誣陷太子陰謀反叛。楚平王聽了非常生氣,又派人去殺太子。太子得到秘密通知後,就逃往宋國去了。伍奢去為太子說情,楚平王又把伍奢抓起來關進了監獄。

費無忌又無恥地對楚平王說:“伍奢的兩個兒子很有才幹,必須捉來殺了,否則會成為禍害的。”於是,楚平王派人去把伍尚、伍員騙來。伍員識破了這場騙局,並在他人的幫助下逃往宋國,最後到了吳國。他為了借吳國的兵力替自己報仇,就幫助吳王闔閭(hélǘ)奪取了王位。

後來,伍員同吳王闔閭領兵進攻楚國,打進了楚國的國都。這時楚平王已死,伍員便把他的墳墓挖開,用鞭子狠狠地把楚平王的屍體抽了三百下。伍員的好友申包胥寫信責備他太過分了,伍員對送信的人說:“你替我謝謝申包胥,並告訴他,我報仇心切,就像行人趕路一樣,天快黑了,但離目的地還很遠,所以只好不擇手段,倒著走路,不能按常理辦事了。(原文是:’吾日暮途遠,吾故倒行而逆施之。’)”

成語“倒行逆施”原指做事違反常理,不擇手段。現多指所作所為違背時代潮流或人民意願。

大器晚成

三國時期,袁紹身邊有一位門客,名叫崔琰(yǎn)。他從小學習武藝,不過直到二十三歲才開始讀《論語》、《詩經》等書籍。崔琰為人耿直,很有見識,朝廷的官員們對他十分推崇,連曹操都很敬重他。當時,袁紹手下的士兵非常殘暴,甚至挖開墳墓毀棄敵人的屍骨,於是崔琰勸說袁紹命令士兵不要這樣做,袁紹覺得他說的很有道理,就听取了他的建議,並且封他為騎都尉。

崔琰後來跟隨曹操的時候,為曹操出了不少主意。曹操想立曹植為嗣子,崔琰就反對說:“自古以來的規矩都是立長子,怎麼能立小兒子呢?這是不可以的啊!”曹植雖是崔琰的侄女婿,但他也不偏袒,曹操很佩服他的公正。

崔琰在對人才的識別方面,有著獨到之處。崔琰有個堂弟名叫崔林,年輕時沒有什麼成就和名望,親戚朋友都瞧不起他。但是崔琰卻對這位堂弟相當器重,常常對別人說:“此所謂大器晚成者也,終必遠至。”意思是說,能做大事的人往往要經過長期的鍛煉,崔林將來一定會成大器。後來,崔林受到重用,先是在曹操手下擔任主簿、御史中丞等官職,後來在魏文帝曹丕朝中擔任司空,被封為安陽鄉侯,成為魏國的重臣。

“大器晚成”原意是大材需要很長時間才能成器,後來常用以比喻一個人成材成名較晚。

Cáocāo xiǎng lì cáozhí wèi sìzi, cuī yǎn jiù fǎnduì shuō:“Zìgǔ yǐlái de guījǔ dōu shì lì zhǎngzǐ, zěnme néng lì xiǎo érzi ní? Zhè shì bù kěyǐ de a!” Cáozhí suī shì cuī yǎn de zhí nǚxù, dàn tā yě Bù piāntǎn, cáocāo hěn pèifú tā de gōngzhèng. Cuī yǎn zài duì réncái de shìbié fāngmiàn, yǒuzhe dúdào zhī chù. Cuī yǎn yǒu gè táng dì míng jiào cuī lín, niánqīng shí méiyǒu shé me chéngjiù hé míngwàng, qīnqi péngyǒu dōu qiáobùqǐ tā. Dànshì cuī yǎn què duì zhè wèi táng dì xiāngdāng qìzhòng, chángcháng duì biérén shuō:“Cǐ suǒwèi dàqìwǎnchéng zhě yě, zhōng bì yuǎn zhì.” Yìsi shì shuō, néng zuò dàshì de rén wǎngwǎng yào jīngguò chángqí de duànliàn, cuī lín jiānglái yīdìng Huì chéng dà qì. Hòulái, cuī lín shòudào zhòngyòng, xiānshi zài cáocāo shǒuxià dānrèn zhǔ bù, yù shǐzhōngchéng děng guānzhí, hòulái zài wèi wéndì cáopī cháo zhōng dānrèn sīkōng, bèi fēng wéi ānyáng xiāng hóu, chéngwéi wèi guó de zhòngchén. “Dàqìwǎnchéng” yuányì shì dà cái xūyào hěn cháng shíjiān cáinéng chéng qì, hòulái chángyòng yǐ bǐyù yīgèrén chéngcái chéngmíng jiào wǎn.

Tucked away in our subconscious is an idyllic vision. We see ourselves on a long trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. 不寒而栗

西漢時期,有一個名叫義縱的人。由於他的姐姐醫治好了漢武帝的母親王太后的病,因此義縱也得到了漢武帝的任用。他先是在幾個地方擔任縣令,後來又多次升遷。在任職期間,義縱公正無私,不懼怕權貴,嚴格執行各種法令,使當地的秩序有了極大的改觀,那些違法亂紀的人都非常怕他。後來,義縱又升遷為南陽太守,他聽說有一個名叫寧成的都尉橫徵暴斂,殘暴無比,於是就派人查實了寧成的種種罪行,根據法律給他治了罪。

不久,由於定襄地區秩序非常混亂,犯罪分子十分猖獗(chānɡjué),漢武帝便把義縱派到定襄擔任太守。義縱一到定襄,就採取了十分嚴厲的措施。他從在監獄服刑的罪犯中挑出二百多名重罪輕判並且有私自解脫桎梏(zhìɡù)行為的犯人,從重判決,斬首示眾;同時,將二百多名私自到監獄探望這些重犯並幫助他們逃跑的人一併斬首。

這件事在定襄地區引起了極大的轟動,大家都在議論義縱一天殺死四百多人這件事。此時雖然天氣不寒冷,可是有些人卻心驚膽戰,渾身發抖。那些過去有過犯罪行為的人,從此之後便老實多了。

後來,人們根據這一故事概括出“不寒而栗”這個成語,形容非常恐懼的心情。栗,戰栗,顫抖。
